Additional tips for delicious espresso
a) use coffee specifically ground for espresso making,
b) tap the porta-filter on the counter top gently, with the ground coffee in it, before tamping, and
c) when pulling the first shot of a double, don’t rush things. Let the boiler heat up a good amount of time–let the little ready light be on for awhile–then turn the pump off before the pump/boiler ready light goes out, and then give it plenty of time to reset before finishing the extraction.
