Here is a brief overview of the features of the Keurig coffee makers based on Terri’s personal experience with this brand.
Ease of Operation: The Keurig coffee maker is very easy to use. It warms up in less than two minutes once the power is turned on. It has a large removable water reservoir that, depending on which model you choose, can hold as much as 48 ounces of water. The reservoir is easy to fill when needed and slides easily into its proper location on the machine. When you are ready to brew your coffee, place your coffee cup under the dispenser. You then select the K-cup of your choice. Easily lift the lever in the center of the machine and place the K-cup in the holder. Shut the lever and select the size cup that you would like. The coffee is dispensed and ready to drink in less than one minute.
Device Options: Depending on the model that you choose, you can select anywhere from 6 to 10 ounces per cup. Many of the machines also have programmable options such as automatic on/off feature, an adjustable brew temperature, and a 24-hour digital clock.
Selection and Availability of Coffees: The coffee pods that the Keurig coffee maker uses are called K-cups. There are over 200 different kinds of coffees, cappuccinos, teas, and hot chocolate K-cups to choose from. The largest selection of K-cups will be found through online stores, but stores such as Bed, Bath & Beyond, Kroger, and some department stores have a large selection as well.
Keurig also offers a reusable K-cup coffee filter. If you purchase one of these, you are able to use any type of ground coffee that you choose to brew your coffee. This reusable filter is easily cleaned after each use by simply rinsing with water.
Reliability: I have had my Keurig for over eight years and have had no problems. I know many others who have had their Keurigs for several years without any problems as well. If you do encounter a problem, Keurig offers a one year warranty on their products.
Maintenance: Cleaning the Keurig coffee machine is simple. Simply mix one part white vinegar and two parts water and add this to the water reservoir. Run this solution through the coffee maker on a regular basis, typically once a month. This will remove any residual oils and calcium deposits from the water lines and will keep the machine running at its best.
Variety of Models: Keurig offers a variety of models including mini versions, home versions, office versions, and commercial versions. Cuisinart, Mr. Coffee, and Breville also make coffee makers that use the K-cup technology as well.

Keurig Coffee Maker – The Pros and Cons
Pros:
(1) No mess
This nifty little coffee maker literally makes no mess whatsoever. You just throw the Kcup into the pod holder and close the lid. When the coffee is all done brewing all you have to do is take the Kcup out and throw it away. No more messing with with coffee grounds and trying to measure the right amount of coffee. Every cup will be the same.
(2) You can have a cup of coffee fast.
In literally under a minute you have a very hot cup of coffee. Some of the old coffee makers that we have all seen sitting around in friend kitchens can take up to 15 minutes for the pot to finish brewing. Not the Keurig system. This coffee machine will have your coffee ready in under a minute. A great tasting coffee in just under a minute. Not bad.
(3) Great variety of coffee
There are many different Kcups that you can purchase for your Keurig. Just about every grocery store now sells Kcups with many stores having their own little section on the shelf. From decaf to bold coffee, you will find a Kcup that you will like.
(4) Can save you money.
With the price of each Kcup averaging 50¢ it can add up pretty quick. By buying your Kcups in bulk you can save money.
Cons:
(1) Only one cup at time
If are planning a party and you plan on serving coffee, you just may want to break out your old coffee machine. Since the Keurig can only handle one cup of coffee at a time you may build up a coffee line while people are waiting. The Keurig is made for an individuals, rather than the masses.
(2) Can cost you more
You may think I have a contradiction here as I already pointed out that Kcups can save you money. It can save you money, but if you drink a lot of coffee it can cost you more to use the Keurig coffee system. For me to make a pot of coffee it cost me around $1.50 a pot. If I drink 4 Kcups a day, then my coffee for the day cost me $2.00. If you drink a lot of coffee this could cost you more.
(3) Not environmentally friendly
We all care about the environment, and I am surprised that I have not been able to find any companies that make the Kcup environmentally friendly. The Kcups are plastic and with the use of an extra add on you can reuse it with your own coffee. I have yet to see anyone reuse them as the plastic Kcups are made to be thrown away. I would love to see Kcups become more environmentally friendly. Go Green Keurig.
keurig coffee maker problems
If You have a Keurig coffee maker, then you need a Keurig carousel to hold your K cups. Depending on your needs, there are two different sizes of Keurig Carousel available at the moment. The size you buy will be determined by how many people you will be catering for and how many K-cups you generally need to be able to display. For smaller situations and environments you can get the 18 capacity Keurig carousel, whereas for the larger office or café, you could opt for anything as big as the 35 K-cup capacity carousel.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Keurig recommends to descaling brewer at least every 6 months (every 3 months if your water has a high mineral content). The descaling process involves using 48 ounces of undiluted white vinegar.
